This lab explores climate at Mono Lake using an energy-budget model. Energy is input from the sun and is stored in the atmosphere and the Earth's surface. The fraction of energy budgeted to the surface is what controls the surface temperature, which you will compute. But does the model work correctly? You can use the model to estimate temperature for any month for modern climate and then see how well the model can estimate ice-age climate, when temperatures were about 7°C colder than today.
